Reporting the arrangement, Sega said its choice to purchase Rovio had been driven by the need to "reinforce its situation" in the worldwide gaming market.


It said this market is projected to develop to $263.3bn by 2026, with the level of portable gaming expected to increment to 56%.


Sega said it would utilize Rovio's "particular ability in live assistance versatile game activity" to assist with bringing its own current and new titles to the worldwide portable gaming market.
